- Client – A global supplier of turnout gear, wildland firefighting suits, and industrial FR coveralls.
- Challenge – Gear had to meet NFPA 1971 and UL certification for flame resistance, radiant-heat exposure, and after-flame time—all without adding bulk or snag-risk during rapid don/doff scenarios.
- Solution – Lenzip created a Nomex® tape zipper system with heat-treated brass teeth and a proprietary oxide finish that prevents galvanic corrosion when laundered with chlorine bleach. We co-developed a color-coded puller set—black for male side, red for female side—to simplify rig-room inspections. Certification samples passed UL testing on the first submission, saving the customer a typical 4-to-6-week resubmission cycle.
- Outcome – The customer released its new bunker-gear line three months ahead of schedule. Distributor feedback cites a 30 % reduction in zipper-related returns, and the gear’s compliance pedigree has opened international markets in the EU and Middle East.
