- Solution – We implemented a barcode-driven, JIT program: pre-cut coil zippers with pre-installed sliders, individually bagged and labeled by vehicle SKU. Weekly EDI forecasting feeds our Chicago plant; urgent dropship orders route overnight from our Indiana facility.
- Outcome – Change-over time fell by 18 %; material waste from over-cutting dropped by 55 %; and the customer estimates $410 k annual productivity savings. Moreover, faster model-year transitions have become a selling point for private-label OEM contracts.
